You are invited

Do you believe that ordinary women and girls have the power to change our world?

At REAL - Resources for the Enrichment of African Lives - we know you do! That is why - in honor of International Women's Day - we are inviting you join us on Thursday, March 4, 2010 at 7:30 p.m. for CARE’s presentation of Half the Sky LIVE, a one-night only event in movie theatres nationwide. We have been asked to introduce the evening and share what REAL is doing to support girls and young women in Ethiopia.

Inspired by the bestselling book "Half the Sky" by Pulitzer Prize-winning journalists Nicholas Kristof and Sheryl WuDunn, this will be an exciting night of musical performances, celebrity commentary and uplifting stories about women and girls overcoming tremendous obstacles. Watch as the pages of the book come to life in “Woineshet,” a powerful short film by Academy Award® Winner Marisa Tomei and Lisa Leone that chronicles the struggles of an Ethiopian woman who ultimately triumphs over sexual violence and discrimination.

Half the Sky LIVE is much more than a night at the movies. With appearances by Marisa Tomei, musicians India.Arie, Michael Franti and Angelique Kidjo, Nicholas Kristof, Dr. Helene Gayle (CARE) and others, this event will empower us to support women and girls around the world - to turn oppression into opportunity.

Please join us at the Rosedale 14 Theater (850 Rosedale Center, St. Paul MN 55113). Together, we can support girls and women around the world to "hold up half the sky"... to reach their full potential, not only for themselves but for all of us as part of our global society.

Don't miss this one night only event... Half the Sky LIVE! Buy tickets at halftheskylive.com or at the theater (regular theater admission prices apply).

We are looking forward to seeing you there!
